Are you looking for a way to incorporate skills supported by reading research into your center activities? This is the resource for you!

In order to become efficient readers and spellers, students must be able to hear the sounds in a word, segment those sounds, and blend them. This center covers all of those skills in one easy to set up activity!

I created these spinners to be used with my mapping mats as a literacy center, but you can use this however you see fit!

Centers:

Put spinners at a center with a white board or mapping mat & manipulative for children to segment the sounds and then spell each sound.

Small Groups:

You can also use this resource for small group time so you can guide students in their segmenting, blending, and spelling.

What is Included:

This pack includes CCVC Words. I did not include any words with bossy R or vowel teams that may not have been taught yet. Some pictures/words may be repeated for extra practice.

-24 spinners are included

-4 S Blend Spinners (slug, stem, snap, spot, swim, sled, skip, spin, slam, snap, skin, slot, smog, swan)

-4 L Blend Spinners (flip flops, flag, club, flat, clam, clip, clap, plug, flip, slip, glad, plum)

-4 R Blend Spinners (drum, trap, grab, frog, drip, crab, grin, drop, trim)

-12 Mixed CCVC Word Spinners including the words twig and twin.
