Decode & Draw WORDS – Unit 1 – CVC Words
I am so excited to add this resource to my collection of decodable resources! I have decided to make this into a series of books that start with words in isolation (helpful for beginning readers learning a new skill), phrases, and then sentences.

The skills included are based on my phonics scope & sequence (which all of my decodable resources follow).
These books should accompany your instruction with each skill. When you are teaching short A words, you can use the short A books to give kids a way to practice reading and writing words.
I have designed these so that the first book for each skill contains CONTINUOUS initial sounds. Why does this matter? Sometimes kids will have a hard time blending sounds into words if the first sound is a stop sound. For example, in the word cat, the first sound /k/ is a stop sound which means kids have to stop, then say the next sound. This can be tricky for kids who are new to reading & blending. When you use a continuous sound (which means you can say it as long as you can hold your breath), it is easier to blend into the next sound.
This entire series is designed to help you transition kids from learning a new phonics skills, to reading/blending sounds into words, then reading words as phrases, and finally reading sentences & books.
If you have any questions please ask BEFORE purchasing! Thank you!
