Alphabet Mnemonics Posters – Brights Version
Dear parents & teachers,
I am so excited to share these posters & images with you. I was recently doing some research and came across studies on using mnemonics with letters. (Which means a picture in the shape of the letter). I have included the research in this resource so you can read more if you would like!
This set includes 4 versions of the posters (plain background without letter, plain background with letter, watercolor background without letter, watercolor background with letter).
I have also carefully chosen the key words for each letter and sound to be sure they follow the science of reading. Elephant is not the best representation of the short vowel sound for E as students typically hear the name of the letter L instead.
Here are the keywords used:
A – apple/acorn
B – baseball (or bat and ball)
C – caterpillar (or cocoon or chrysalis)
D – doughnuts
E – edge/emu
F – flower
G – game
H – horse
I – inch/ice cream
J – jewelry
K – keys
L – llama
M – mountains
N – needle
O – octopus/orange & ocean
P – paint
Q – queen
R – rainbow
S – snake
T – tools
U – up/unicorn
V – vacuum
W – worms
X – ax
Y – yarn
Z – zipper
